i found out another kind of bill to save. save any bill with a serial number 96000000 or higher. they are from uncut sheets offered from the mint to collectors that someone cut and spent them. they are definatly worth more than face!
I bought a sheet of $50's not long ago hoping to get some decent serial numbers...not to be so I cut them and put them into circulation... Besides I thought they were New York notes but they were not... RickieB
even if you cut them a strange way, a experienced collector would see if the serial number is higher than 96000000. i don't think that was a good idea cutting and spending those uncut $50 bills. just the $1 uncut bills go for $15 in CU.
The $50's were not stars and are the 2006 Series..no big deal..I have since re-ordered trying for better numbers...knowing they are not NY notes and I will put these away for my Son to have one day! Just wish they were NY notes..LOL silly huh?? RickieB
Back in th '80s I was at a show with a friend that owned a shop. He had a very good day and we went for drinks to celebrate. He decided to have a little fun and paid for the drinks by cutting singles off of uncut sheets. the more we drank the worse the cuts got. I looked for those bills in change for years! no luck though. i saw someone on ebay selling a $1 bill uncut sheet bill, 2003A, no star for $15 though. it was uncirculated too.
