Thanks for the review. Seems like all in all it could be worth watching.
I am an avid fan of historical movies - just a pity there are not too many of those in our area. I do have access to Amazon Prime So will check if they have in in the program.

 

I doubt it. It is a Netflix-created series, so it's probably only available on that platform. I have Prime and did not see it there.

Yeah, I tried that, but when I try to add it, it doesn't recognize the title. I just finished looking through all their original movies/series and don't see it.

 

Oh gosh, don't get me started about Masada! It's one of the best mini-series from the 80s and a favourite of mine. Plus, watching Peter O'toole hamming it up is very entertaining.

But, since you didn't ask me, I digress ...

 

So......The Roman Empire was eventually brought down because a messenger boy couldn't get the message right?

I've just finished the first episode. Being a novice, it does help put some of these people and events in context for me. Seems I need things like flow charts and visual aids to put it all together in my mind. Kind of like having a box of Christmas ornaments. They are just a box of ornaments, unless you have something to hang them on. Like a tree. Then you get the whole picture.

 

Not to be too nit-picky over a movie, but wonder where Marcus Aurelius got the coyote hide.

 

I watched all 6 episodes last night.

A couple of questions?
Since Commodus was big on omens, why wasn't he spooked out by the flock of birds that would suddenly appear each time he went outside?
Who cleaned up the pigeon poop?

 

These were the same 12 birds reused with the same video clip over and over. By the third episode, he knew them all by name. And since they were all CGI, no poop.

No, and I've tried several different ways. So in the end, I just gave up. Any suggestions?

I don't know what to tell you. When I click the link I sent you, it goes to the movie. When I type in Roman in the search feature, it brings up the movie.

I copied and pasted:

in my browser, and clicked on the official Netflix link that comes up, and it takes me to the movie, which plays.

 

@Bing If you're not in the U.S. it may not be available. If you're using a proxy server it may have you going through a different region. Very strange that it won't open for you. Have you tried accessing it from a different device?

 

I just got off the phone with Netflix. The reason I can't get it according to the rep is because it is only available for "streaming" customers. And I am not. She said it will eventually be available for blu-ray. I guess I am SOS.
