Thank you. I initially had thought the larger was harder to find too.

    G'day!

While searching a roll of wheat cents last night, I came across what I think is a great example of that undesirable "poor man's" 1955 ddo. Still, as I am learning, I spent some time examining it closely and thought I would post a couple of pictures of it here.

There seems to be the vaguest doubling on on the IGWT. Could it be up and clockwise a bit? And to my eyes, there seems to be a tiny bit of doubling on Liberty. But what keeps drawing my interest is how crooked or downward slanted the final 5 appears on the date which is more apparent on the photograph that shows the complete obverse of the coin. Nothing interesting on the reverse side. (But is it proper etiquette to always include the uninteresting side too?)

(Did I put anyone to sleep?)

Ten BWR of Roosies gave me 3 69ers, so pretty much nothing.

About to crack open seven BWR of Jeffersons and see if I can plug a few holes.

Jiminy. The first roll of nickels barely had anything newer than 70. I reckon I can plug a few holes.

You are right that it is not enough to only know it is not the 1955 ddo that is loved and wanted. It is important to get a good working knowledge of how that doubling probably got there and how to refer to it. Thanks. I was just studying that. I posted a doubled die 'self-test on another thread (but now I forget which thread it was).

Strangely enough the white machine wrapped rolls aren't marked Loomis like the last three times.
Seem to be similar in every other way.
So far no apparent errors and 3 82D copper large date, 1 82P copper large date and 1 82P zinc large date.
Tell me again how common small date is....

Still trolling the pennies and finishing $30 in nickels when I came across this 74 D. Couple steps even still but would not photograph them well. IMG_0050.JPG IMG_0049.JPG

What's so HOT about the 69 rosie?
Something unusual about it? First I've heard about this fact. Please explain. HH

I got $9.50 more worth of pennies. Three rolls were ones I turned in. It's getting near impossible to find the missing pennies I need. I look as well as I am able for cuds or DDs. Have yet to find either. Found 5 more 82.
    4 D and 1 P. All copper large date.

...pretty much...nothing. The fact that I found 3 of them was the statement and the first time I had mentioned it so that makes sense. Are you asking why mention it at all? It's a very non-Paris Hilton explanation, barely worth mentioning, but if that's what you're asking bare with a collectors stance for a minute.
In the clad era of the Roosevelt Dime it was the lowest minted (145,790,000) next to the 09 P (96,500,000) and 09 D (49,500,000), and after it would come the 71 (162,690,000). The rest are roughly 350mil to well above 1bil. That said, I just chuck them in a big jar, along with the other dates mentioned, because, historically, lower mintages have a way of being worth more than face value many, many years down the road. If nothing else I'll have a BIG jar of dimes I can bring to a bank and have them give me that eras equivalent which, by that time, MAY buy me a pack of gum. HH!

7 rolls of nickels from NEPA yielded a few nice older nickels. 39, 42, 51 and a 54. A few upgrades to some in the 60s on up. I'll have to grab more rolls the next time I'm up there!
