Unfortunately, the other guys are correct, but good eye! Believe it or not, such anomalies are not noticed by everyone, so even though this isn't what was hoped, some good can come from it. Maybe next time you'll find something special. Welcome to the forum.
Before anyone pokes me in the eye with toothpick, can I ask a question? I see you are on the same page together, but remember that zinc cent I posted awhile back? It had a portion of the reverse attached to the obverse, just the zinc core w/o the plating. Chris mentioned something about a possible dropped element. A piece of the opposite side that had broken away and been impressed into the other side. Would it not be quite difficult to shave a section of the reverse just to glue it to the obverse? I know there's a lot of clowns out there with too much time on their hands but...I would be interested to see what happens after the soak in acetone and if this piece comes off. I'm not denying you are correct, maybe just a little hopeful this might be something else before it gets tossed.
Poke! Seriously though, I vaguely recall the coin you're talking about, but could you repost the link? It's on subject, so I see no harm in doing so here if you're okay with it too. That said, and if I'm understanding you correctly, sure... it's possible, but not on the OP coin though. If you look closely, you'll see the proper design elements of the Lincoln bust are visible through the "memorial", meaning it's somewhat transparent, but I don't see why a bored someone couldn't do such a thing to a different coin.
