Hi, everybody! According to the 2017 issue of the "Standard Catalog of Word Coins," the coin, #587, is now valued at $1,500.00, an increase of $300.00 over the issue price. There were only 73,772 minted.

So this is 90 years in the future?

    Onofrio,

Give it up, ... PLEASE. 73,772 is NOT a number that should be with "only". That's an obscenely high mintage compared to almost all other gold coins. 1964-2014 Kennedys sell for WELL UNDER original issue price on a daily basis. Along with the 2016 quasi-Merc, it is one of the two most overbought coins in modern U.S. Mint history. You can't swing a proverbial dead cat without hitting one at many coin shows that a dealer is desperate to get rid of.

Don't give me any garbage about the population, either. The majority of the U.S. population will be born, live a rich full life, and die without ever having SEEN a U.S. gold coin. And they won't care, nor should they.

I guess you can't write simple English, and you can only dish it out, you can't take a
    minor ribbing.

I have it on good authority that in 2107 there will be no IBM stock. It'll be an ANA Kids Zone giveaway like Pennsylvania Railroad stock is now.

Not sure where they came up with that number. I sold my Pr70 for well under that in the last month or so. Take a look at completed ebay sales for real world numbers.

None of us will be around in 2107 so why should we care about future events? Perhaps you can read tea leaves or predict the future? Let me know what the winning powerball #'s are and I'll share the prize with you!!

The issue price was way too high for a 3/4 oz. gold coin, and coupled with very high mintage, the realistic price is a bit over $1,000 for these. I have a fairly complete Kennedy collection but doubt that I'll even buy one for spot. There are many more nicer gold coins out there that are of numismatic quality that I'd rather have at just a little over spot. This is the best time in decades to purchase numismatic gold.

Issue price was $1240. Raw ones over the last couple of weeks have gone as low as $960 on eBay.

What does the Standard Catalog list as a "value" for oh, say, a nice 2016 quarter?

    Pocket change.

Which is what I'd really like to do with one of the gold Kennedys. Lowball, baby!

A couple of bids on E-Bay for the Kennedy high relief around $1225 for PCGS PR69. 70's are around $1500. Can,t find any listings for OGP.

I only collect the later ATB's in MS67.

If I were in the market for one, and I'm not, the only way I'd want it is OGP. It's a silly coin to slab, IMO.

Lowest buy it now for a 70 is $1,132, and OGP auction is sitting at $1,095 with no bids.
