So the stats for 2 hours 17 minutes would average out to: 197 orders per minute $122,481 dollars per minute Sales = $16,780,000 in 2 hours 17 minutes of business. - Nice...Very Nice!
I was amazed many were able to get through in the first hour. The mint should be embarrassed by how poor the website and the call center handled this.
I was ready to try that when I encountered an error with the regular checkout. What does QUICK CHECKOUT mean? I assumed it was like one-click ordering on Amazon.com; they used whatever information they have on file for you.
Really - why ? You don't think approx 200 orders per minute is good enough ? I think it's rather impressive myself.
I used quick check and it worked fine for me. I ordered the proof , took about 15 minutes. Did not want to take a chance on adding the uncirulated to my cart so I submitted it. Went back and ordered the uncirulated which took about 30 minutes. The uncirulated almost timed out but went through in the last little bit. The quick check goes to your default setting as I have been told. Saved downloading a few of those slow pages today. The phone I gave up on real fast It was a slow ordering process for this coin as compared to regular stuff but I think this was to be expected or should I say I was expecting it. I went to a Friends house who had a wireless DSL ( I am still on dial up) Think he got more excited or nervous than I did. Got him trained now so I now have a good friend who know how to order for me. Will save a lot of work related hassles for me.
I used the quick checkout also and my order was placed after a lot of agony with the web site. I called my credit card company to also alert them to make sure no problems on that end when the charge is processed which I guess will be about 9/24. I ordered the proof only as I could not afford both. I see that people are selling them on ebay without even having the coin and people are bidding. It's crazy! Hope that everyone that wanted one was able to make the purchase.
I really don't think it is good enough as today other sites can do many times better, and Amazon.com is able to do thousands of orders a minute. I think if this was a private sector company there would be a lot of questions being asked on why it went this slow on the website sales. Also most people only accessed a couple of pages to get through this, no search result bandwidth issues or other big drains on the system. It just seemed like this was ordering something online in 1999/2001, at least it felt that way to me. Anyway glad you ordered some of these too, i think these are the coin of the year.
I could not use quick check out, but that was back when it was going hot and heavy. I think it hs cooled off since this morning (western time).
I called in at 9AM California time and got right in. But when I chose 1-PLACE AN ORDER- I got kicked off. Same with the 2nd try I got thru and got kicked off. The 3rd try I had to redial 4-5 times but when I got thru I chose 0 for assistance (real people). I was told to hold as they were very busy. Not 2 minutes waiting I got a live human and she took my order for 1 of each. I'm surprised that she didn't pull up my saved info and quick-process it and save our time. Anyway I got a order # and the coins are on they're way home. I then called my buddy to remind him that today was the day (930AM Ca. time). He immediately called as I instructed him to hit 0 and talk live. He got thru and was done in 5 minutes. I then called my East Coast Brother and re-reminded him to call. Boo HOO HOO he couldn't get thru. He tried for 3+ hours and finally got on a waiting list. A lot of people will cancel and will be cancelled for one reason or another. I hope he gets his. I told him last night and told him weeks and days ago about these coins, what does he know? He's an antique dealer not a coin collector!
I used quick checkout and it worked fine. I made it soup to nuts in 17 minutes. I prelogged in and at 12 refreshed the first spouse page. I wonder how much these things will be worth.
Total of 6 min for me to place an order for 1 of each proof and uncirc.. Nice coin I must say!! RickieB
