Hey guys so i was searching through a tube of 1940-S cents and came across this as well as a retained cud and a couple other laminations. Is this it? It has all the markers listed on wexlers varieties, The die gouge to the right of bow tie and die scratch southeast of nostril, What's would this be worth? And grade, if anyone could help.
I'm not seeing any Retained CUD.. can you tell us where it is? I see no Obverse Doubling. Mint marks are not Doubled Die. They are just RPM.
I think you read that to quick. I said i found this as well as a retained cud. Different cent but same year. I can put pics of it up just to make sure but I'm pretty sure it is. And this particular stage is an rpm as well as doubled die. Here is the link. I believe its rpm-001 stage A. http://doubleddie.com/802597.html
And here is the doubled die link http://www.doubleddie.com/597934.html its one of those doubled dies thats hard to see, it's ddo-003.
The value of any coin is what someone is willing to offer you for it, opposed to what you are willing to take for it. Error coins I find very hard to assign a value to, for many reasons. The best way to get an idea is to go to E-bay an see what people are BUYING them for, or check auctions prices for simular coins. I have a few error coin and I only know a ballpark figure on there value. Hope this helps and keep looking. I think you are on the right track with this coin.
yeah the only problem is i can only find s/s for sale for 49$ not the s/s and ddo though. On coneca its in the top 100 and a population of 4 and in the top 50 rpms for lincoln cent resource so im just not sure.. Stumped on this one and of course nobody seems to be replying.
