    The 9 pointing direction as shown by @Michael K is key, but there is another diagnostic, too. The word "LIBERTY" on the obverse is nearly always quite weak, especially at the top of the word.

    Makes me wonder what a very early strike small date looks like.

    I think mine is between MDS and EDS

    Very clean, neat strike. It's just softer in the central parts of the obverse.

    Here is one from coinfacts that looks like a proof:

    MS-67 RD. This is about as early as it gets I think

    I kinda thought the same thing. It is just what was pictured for the small date on coin facts. And they have it listed as MS-67 RD, which I dont think it is RD either. But, PCGS is never wrong lol;)
