I'm guessing that they are bronze and were made by a private mint. The US Mint does have a set of bronze presidential medals in two sizes. I have a complete set in 1-5/8" and I believe there is also a 3" bronze set. Chris
So after some searching I found that the Jefferson, Lincoln and Eisenhower medals are US Mint and the Kennedy bronze medal is private. Found same ones on eBay going for about 5 a piece. A guy at work wanted to get a few bucks for them, some mint sealed Cents 50s-70s, some 2x2ed ms Lincoln Cents 50s-70s and an odd assortment of steelies from the 40s? I may want to give him a few more dollars if this stuff adds up to be something. If anyone is interested in these shoot me a private msg. I'll probably put them up on the bay.
Thanks for the info Chris. The Jefferson, Lincoln and Eisenhower are the 1 5/8 medals. The Kennedy mint presidential seal is the same size but brighter and stamped bronze.
I haven't looked at mine for a while, but I think the reverse of the Jefferson medal should have the Peace Medal design (shaking hands) on it. Chris
Indeed it does. They are neat coins in great condition just not what I'm into right now. I have my eyes set on some buffalos, shields, Vs and anything with a CC or O mintmark on it. Does anyone know about steelies minted in any other years besides 43? (Keeping in mind they don't seem to be copper coated with zinc, but very well could be) I remember seeing a 44, 47 and 49 like that in the bag. I don't want to get too excited about the 44 until I weigh them.
