My son arrived back in Europe this morning after finishing a tour in Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan. We are so relieved he has made it back to his home safe and sound. So, in honor of his safe return, I am posting one of my purchases from JAZ Numismatics. It's been a couple months since I got it, but this is a good opportunity to celebrate my owning it and my son's return. Surely happy news, Bing! Glad he is safe and sound back home. Do thank your son for serving! This country is surely safe due to individuals like your son (as well as our boys in blue)... Thank you @Quant.Geek. His second tour under his belt. He thinks he will have to deploy again in a couple of years, but we'll cross that bridge when we come upon it.
I am very happy that your son has returned from duty safe and sound. Many thanks to him for his service and to you for raising such a son. Though I have posted it relatively recently in another thread here is one of my purchases from JAZ Numismatics from around the same period as yours.
Salutes to you and your son JW! I have a son that wants to join the military, so we're just at the beginning of this journey.
That's great news Bing! Glad he made it back okay. Here's a Fourree Alexander III drachm I don't think I've shown before. I have no idea where or when it was minted. 17mm 4.2g
Well since Hercules and Zeus seem to be the theme, here's a tet I recently acquired for the wild obverse double-strike and oversized flan...
Excellent news @Bing! Thank him for his service, and I know you and your wife are relieved he is safely home! As most know, I spent a long time in the Army. I loved it personally, but my father could never understand why anyone would want to make the military a career. It's a way of life that is unlike most professions. I hope your son has a rewarding career in whatever he chooses.
Glad to hear your son is out of there and back to greener pastures. I send my thanks for his service (and yours too). -Doug
Happy to hear the good news Bing, that your son has arrived home safely, must be a big relief for you and your wife.
Happy return BG. I'm also a father and know how glad you feel. Since he returned to Europe, I prefer to post Astarte- Europe ( I don't know precisely why they call her this way ). I do love this Phoenician goddess of love.
I'm happy he's back safe. Be sure and tell him folks like me appreciate his service more than he can know!
