All my 2014's are still sealed in mint shipping boxes. Half of my 2015's are still in sealed mint boxes. All of my 2016's have been opened as I piggyied them with another order. The later in the year of the order, the lower the serial number on the "bill". Had some serious low serial numbers. But that is a secret...shhhh.

    odd isn't it.

I'm a real collector, but I still do not want to over pay for a coin.
I wonder if I can sell a 2017 ASE for $1,000 to a *real collector* since the cost doesn't matter. Sell them my 1916 Oregon Trail because it is such a pretty coin for $10,000 to a real collector. I'll take the money, then be cheap and buy a slew of the coins to rebuild my *unreal collector* collection.

Well I guess you are actually more prepared then you think, beats being lucky.

It's like knowing your significant other is gonna run that rose with stem over your anus....are you going to be prepared and remove the thorns before hand or or call it lucky there were no thorns.

The only times I have not gotten a "Hot" release from the US Mint was either lack of funds(which is in most cases) or my own lack of due diligence, including not updating credit card as some of us old people forget about that.

Am I happy about this one? I don't know. I have a backorder and it is what it is. But I will not be filling out forms complaining and then yahooing! if my order does ship.

If you are so concerned for us lil collectors, hire a lawyer and do the Freedom Of Information route.....including order numbers, first in first out. The piddly form means squat.

I will keep shaking my head right along with Doug.

So am I not a real collector because I like my ASE's and an idiot for liking them? Is being a modern liker not make you a collector?

I do know that some of us here on this forum like the ASE's and like to keep at least an example of each, without all the moanin and groanin. Fill out forms to the mint, brag about the flipping @jwitten and even state they left money on the table.

I am still on back order and dealing with it just fine. But I do know that if I do get my order of 4 that one is going to a certain forum member at mint issue price. He does like his silver eagles and a friend to almost all of you. The other three I am keeping. I don't flip! I must be a collector cause I dislike flippers.

Check my BST history yall'. Two listings only ever. One was for a trade..no takers. & the other was Kennedy clad anniversary sets. They sold out of this forum within minutes below mint issue price & not Ebay .

Much less costly, time consuming, and maybe more effective considering it's the AG's mission to find something wrong, so, definitely the way to go over a FOIA request and lawyers. I haven't posted that link in awhile, so here it is again.

Clearly the mint won't do anything about what's seen as a problem by many of the mint's customers, they are getting more abusive. So here's a link to an agency that may do something about it or not, either way it's worth a try. :D

Here's a link to file an online complaint with the U.S. Treasury Department Inspector General. You can file anonymously and mint mismanagement is a legit complaint. If they get a bunch of these, they may do something about it.

    https://www.treasury.gov/about/organizational-structure/ig/Pages/OigOnlineHotlineForm.aspx

    Here's a sample complaint:

This is the person to file the complaint on:
David Motl, Acting Principal Deputy Director
    United States Mint

This is the complaint you can copy & paste in most of the required fields or write your own:
I am filing this complaint because of mismanagement (or worse) by David Motl, Acting Principal Deputy Director of the United States Mint. The U.S. Mint, under Mr. Motl’s direction, repeatedly offers limited edition coins in a manner that allows a few large business interests to monopolize the entire issue. The most recent abuse was an offering for the 2017 Congratulations Set on April 4, 2017 with no ordering limits. This issue sold out in less than two minutes and most collectors were shutout. It appears from aftermarkets sales, a few large dealers bought most of the sets. Please review Mr. Motl’s business practices in order to assure all U.S. Mint customers have a chance to purchase their offerings. Thank You.

My 12 are still backordered. Hopefully they ship, cause I already flipped them all!

    LMAO.....

The AG? Be serious. Is there a state quarter for that island in the pacific?

Put your money up for the FOIA, or just plain let it go. And I thought I had a screw loose. :arghh:

I would add, after all, these are meant to be collectors sets, sold to the public.
    :woot: ;) :angelic:

I'd say you do have a screw loose if you can't figure it out. A FOIA simply MAY provide documents, a waste of money. Then what, throw down a $100k or more for a lawyer to sue the government? The AG investigates incompetence and corruption with no cost to us collectors, other than well spent tax dollars. And, an AG investigation will be taken much more seriously than a private lawsuit.

Hey, many complaints have already been filed. We'll see if they do any good, if any changes are made at the mint. If nothing comes of the complaints, I'll continue to file them every time the mint pulls what they did with this issue.

Unfortunately to a lot on forums that is the case, hence modern collectors quietly do it online and do not talk about it for the most part.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

This is just a repeat of the almost identical conditions of the Truman C&C set. Actually, it's worse. The HH limit wasn't too high, there was none.

Yes indeed............next time something of this nature comes up for sale make sure you're logged onto the mint site at least 15 minutes before post time and refresh the page every so often. Make sure your credit card is current and up to date, and youse (use) the 'quick checkout'. One more thing.......if you have any kind of 'tracking' software installed on your computer (Ghostery, Privacy Badger) make sure you disable it.

You forgot to add to also be hardwired with a cat-5 cable from modem instead of connected to modem via wifi ;)

I just checked back on eBay on the Truman and Ike C&C's. Lots of fixed price asks, not selling. The sellers don't realize they held too long.

"So let it be with Caesar!" And these 2017-W's too.

Having worked with FOIA requests professionally, I can tell you they are an unmitigated nightmare. If you want the inspector general to look into this, just send him a letter. If all is OK with this sale, no big deal. If not, then it's up to the IG to determine action.

It's what we pay him to do.

I see the mint has their product schedule all the way up to May 17th now. Definitely showing that they are way ahead of the game. :bucktooth:
