Went into a number of shops while in Albuquerque and time after time I saw Buffalo nickels turned into buttons. Baskets of them greeted customers as they entered the shop.

Are buffalo nickels really that popular as buttons?

Most were dateless but it was still sad to see them destroyed/altered...

Out west I imagine they are more popular.
    Hopefully they were all dateless.

Other than the nickel buttons, how did you enjoy Albuquerque ?

I went out there 10 years ago and fell in love with the area.
I would love to move there, just outside town of course.

are you sure they're real? I've seen plenty of cast pieces.

I used to live in Red River NM about 100 mi N. of Albuquerque 8750 ft above sea level, that part of the state is absolutley beautiful. I would move back in a milisecond if I didn't have to work.

    nah, they're real.
there is an Arizona dealer who buys them like crazy.
i head that they turned them into buttons... so I guess that this proves it.
