I have culled 78 pennies from what I started with. I looked at what I already had in flips. In most cases I could not improve upon what I had. In a few cases I could.

I am attempting to do 2016 back as far as I can with P,D and S if existing.

I have pages from a notebook of slides.
4 Of those pages hold obverse and reverse. Besides a Kennedy I will also need a bicentennial Ike as well.

And maybe someday get the wall hanging frames to do it right. (And keep my Dad away from them!).

Oh ok... it wasn't clear to me that you were working on a set and upgrading. Never mind my posts then. Sorry!

Filled die, and a touch of improperly mixed alloy. Too bad for the verdigris.

I know i need to get some Verdi-Care.

I'm new to this, so if it were in better condition would it be worth more that 1 cent? 1st time I have found one this grease filled...actually taking out part of the date. You can just see the outline of his nose, but it is almost gone as well

I am not a collector for the sale, Yes, money reasons and errors are why I started collecting. Before that I was a change and bill hoarder. Though, through the years my tastes have changed.
I would say your cent should be an educational coin, when you find more of that style, you can compare the grade and get a feel for what it should sell for.

Hello everyone, I have just finished Box #3 of the month of Pennies. Did some kinda real geeky stuff tonight, lol.
Sorted all the Shield, Wheats and Canadians from the Memorials.

Here is what I came up with
    Wheats:
    1928
    1936
    1937
    1944
    1945
    1945s
    1946x2
    1947
    1950s
    1952d
    1955x2
    1956x2
    1957d
    1958d

    Canadians
    1965
    1971
    1979x2
    1980
    1982x3
    1995
    1997
    2000

    Also had 7 2009's.

Shield total was 503, ave 10 a roll.

    1968 Memorials

One roll had 3 Canadians in it while another roll had 2 Wheats. That was a good roll, lol

I keep holding on to the Shields but... 20170419_200243.jpg
    The container is getting full...

I plan on going through them this weekend. If anyone needs 2017..I might find one or two. I will let you know. Hoping to find my first 2017D of the year still, lol

Have one more box to go through, but that will be for tomorrow night.

Oh I haven't even sorted the Memorials by date yet. That will prolly be for tomorrow.

    Happy Hunting.

Got my first box of halves in a while coming tomorrow. Very excited. Last time I did a box i got skunked so fingers crossed!!!

I think this is the same statistic for everyone but does everyone have better luck with teller halves rather than a box?

Boxes in bulk best way to go

Last 9 boxes have been stinky skunks for halves. Hopefully odds are changing on halves soon.

For purely volume of silver per week I would agree because there's a limitless supply to search, but the percent of silver Halves I find over the counter is much higher... when I can find it.

It's pretty "hit or miss" with teller halves in my experience. If I were to estimate, it's actually a tiny bit smaller percentage than with the boxes as some of the tellers at my banks are aware of them and do pull them (and other silver coins) when they find them.

Yep many tellers pull silvers. I've only scored twice on teller halves and I've been asking for years.

I've been focusing more on cents and nickels than dimes recently, had a big score with dimes last Oct but silver is scarce in dime rolls and its usually silver or bust.
Wheat cents are coming along, I've got 62 date/mm varieties thus far. The more you accumulate the tougher those hole fillers are to come by, but when you do find one it's quite a rush, so I'll keep plugging along.
The most realistic set to complete from CRH is Jefferson nickels. I've got just 13 more to find (most of them wartime nickels).....
    38D, 38S, 39D, 39S, 42P, 42S, 43D, 43S, 44D, 44S, 45D, 50D, 51S and I'll be finished.
Actually just found my first 46S last week.
How about you? What sets are you working on?

There's a few tellers that know I'm a collector and actually save interesting finds for me when they come across them. I think some tellers do pick out individual silver coins, maybe less likely if they're already rolled when they get them? A while ago I got a solid roll of silver halves! https://www.cointalk.com/threads/christmas-came-2-days-early.288320/

You are down to the nitty-gritty when it comes to the Jeffersons... Good to see you've knocked off the 42-D, 49-S, 50, 55, and some War Nickels. Based on your location the numbers out there, I'd be willing to bet the 42-P and 43-S are your most likely "next finds." As for me, I have two CRH sets of Jeffersons now for every date sans the 1950-D.

As for the Cents, my 1934-1958 short set is missing only 4 coins now - 1935-S, 1936-D, 1938-D and 1939-D. Surprisingly, I also found a collection dump a few months back which included both a 1932-D and a 1933 (years I had never found before!)

I have some of those tellers as well. One saved me a dateless Buffalo... I "pickled" it and it turned out to be a 1916.
