the only thing i did not like the 3rd spouse gold coin is the reverse design. too many words on it. it is better to have an am eagle.

This is what I posted yesterday on the other First Spouse thread.
    Jeff and Dolly

When the Jefferson & Dolly Madison First Spouse coins come out they will knock the others down. Dolly very popular American (from Philly) :D and the Jeff coin will be number 1 for a long time. IMO

Then you have the people like me who feel that the pres and spouse coins are just uncollectable but yet also feel that the set of liberty gold coins would be very desirable!!! These coins are going to drive the series IMHO as far as value and will be sought after by people with vast colecting interests.

And absolutely avoid the term "USA" which abbreviates the whole name of the country.

While you are at it, drop "America" from the designations "South America" and "North America". Those people aren't real "Americans", are they?

Final suggestion Mr. hamman88 - change your name to Jingo88.

    Little history

Dorothea Dandrige Payne or Dolley Payne, was born (May 20, 1768July 12, 1849) was the wife of President James Madison, who served from 1809 until 1817. She also occasionally acted as what is now described as First Lady of the United States during the administration of Thomas Jefferson, fulfilling the ceremonial functions more usually associated with the President's wife, since Jefferson was a widower.[1] Her name has been widely misspelled as "Dolly".

She was born in N.C. is it ok to abbreviate that :goofer: but live many years in Philly PA. :goofer:
I loved her Ice Cream the Co. is now Hostess and many other names

    3rd spouse gold

it seems that people collecting gold coins were shifting from american eagle gold to spouses gold and may be american buffalo gold. why?. because those two type of gold coins were made of 24K, .9999 fineness. and american eagle were simple too many right now.

I think it is more likely that they are changing over because they are different. After 20 years of the gold eagle they are ready for a change. I would bet if you asked the people who collect those coins if they do so because they are .999 fine instead of .917 fine they will tell you no, that they collect for the design/series.

I wouldn't hold my breath for the 16th of August date for the Jefferson Liberty. The mint still has not completed distributed the Martha Washington and Abigail Adams coins. I expect a delpay. The release date quickly vanished from the mint's website.
