    It is an altered date.
The 3 does not have the long center bar of an real 1893-S.

Also, the denticles are convieniently missing on the bottom to throw off anyone trying to determine the position of the date.
    They look ground off.

I'm beginning to think that EBAY loves the scammers they have coming on ripping people off. I have reported so many obviously B.S. lots and not once have they done anything about it.

    Jasn

NOTE: I reported it to ebay and sent them the link provided below that shows fake 93s morgans. Let's see if they give a damn.

Still no response at all from ebay. Shows how much they care that someone is about to get nailed for 1500 bucks plus.

I'm half tempted to outbid everyone on this to stop the sell so I can throw some feedback against him.

this was his response to me when I told him I believed the coin was a fake and that he may not know it but he needed to check it out and be honest.

    Simius,
I would advise against bidding and doing that. I did that before, and ebay banned me despite the fact that I saved someone over 2000 dollars, and the fact that they should have pulled the listing after many people reported it as counterfeit, and the fact that ebay was aware that the seller had sold many counterfeits in the past.

thanx for the warning zaneman. This account is very new since I have never really cared for ebay. So, I wouldn't miss it. Plus I'm about to move and won't be online anyway for a month or so most likely.

I'm still debating doing it because I'm gonna hate seeing those ppl get ripped (even though they should KNOW better)

Thanks again for the heads up.

isn't it now? I replied to him and told him that I was still 50/50 about whether he actually KNEW it was fake until I got this reply. Now I'm 100% that he knows and he is the one who made it.

I'll get that he kicked sand in other guys' faces at the beach.
    A true eBay loser.

Well there are two losers here. The seller (as a human being) and the buyer as a victim.

I'm going to check his other auctions to see what other garbage he has. You know it's always fun when we mass email these jokers. At least I know I enjoy it.

For what it's worth I just emailed the seller.

I find that an "I'm just wondering" approach will generally get better responses.

    Here's my question.

    "Hi,

Just curious but why wouldn't you get a coin like that slabbed THEN sell it. It is, after all, the key and a PCGS slab would garner you much higher bids.

    Thanks,

    clembo"

He's only got about an hour to reply so I'm not holding my breath.

Ok.. did my mass mail part: Hi - do you know this is a counterfeit? This is really bad.. I hope you study this & pull the auction until you confirm. Thanks.

    ....and the loser is!

    itsallgold

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

You have just been rooked out of $1775! But wait there's more! You also have to pay shipping!

As a further bonus you'll find out it's not all gold. As a matter of fact you just paid $1775 for some junk silver!

Why am I being so vicious? Well, under the ebay system we CAN'T email the buyer to tell him/her that that he/she has been ripped off. On the other hand there is the slight chance that this person might actually read this post.

The seller did not repsond of course. Was only an hour left when I emailed and already busy counting the money I'm sure.

Ebay does it again. You know the whole IT thing. Only problem is that the first two letters are missing.

I messaged ebay no less than 20 times about this auction.

Considering that they did NOTHING but warn ME about it and the fact that you can't message a buyer to warn them, I am now CONVINCED that ebay is a KNOWING and WILLING participant in the fraud.

Can't wait till someone sues Ebay over cases of auction fraud that they do NOTHING about and actually wins.

    It's so sad.

It's a decent fake, but still a fake, and not worth over the price of a 1892 S in G, which is probably BV.
