Customer-specific pricing. They see you as either really rich or really dumb. :D:D:D

John sold his Company to Gov mint in 2015. Thats why if you pay close attention you would have noticed they are no longer the cheapest on Ebay anymore.

I wonder what the large resellers do if their presales don't come through in the right quantities? There have been issues where few coins graded out at MS70 or PR70. There are a lot of dollars out there in presales for PR70.

Thank you. I still find MCM cheaper than others on eBay (for what I am looking for) 9 out of 10 times and their customer service has always been outstanding.

From what I understand, these S minted proof ASEs will be available in 1 other set this year if you miss out on this one.

Threads like this always make me just kind of sit and shake my head - for a couple of different reasons.

One of those would be that the powers that be at the US Mint have been members of this forum for almost as long as the forum has existed. And they read EVERYTHING you guys say !

Now once, over 10 years ago now, one of the assistant directors at the mint who was a member here actually tried to help collectors and the members of this forum. He went out if his way to do so ! Ya know what happened ? He got fired for doing that. So do ya think what you guys say matters - to the the mint ?

The other reason I sit and shake my head is that for years the same basic scenario regarding new collector issues has been followed. Quick sellouts - regardless of whatever type of ordering limits were in place. Ordering limits or not there's always a way around them, even if the big companies have to pay people to stand in line to buy the coins for them. And then everybody complains because they didn't get to buy one.

Well I'd like to ask ya, are you complaining because you didn't get the coin ? Or are you complaining because you didn't get to buy as many as you could and then turn around and flip them for a quick profit ? Just like the big companies are doing.

Now never mind that sometimes as soon as 30 days later, after the release date, the madness has died down and the coins are being sold for a pittance, sometimes even below issue price. And yeah, threads like that have written here on this forum too. So if you're one of the ones who just wanted the coin, just wait a little bit and you'll be able to get one - cheap !

So do ya wonder, why I just sit and shake my head ? And before ya respond to that I've heard it all before, just about any type of response it's possible to give. So I won't bother to read them. But if you want to respond to counter my comments - have at it. But go look in the mirror when ya do.

I've been lucky and haven't been shutout of a limited edition. But, that's just it, it boils down to luck and it shouldn't. Yes, the large dealers will get a quantity, but with an initial HHL of 1, it will be a lot tougher, and they will get less and it will give the small guy a few more minutes to get an order in.

True, complaining to the Mint does no good, which is why I finally posted a link to the Inspector General. It's worth a try.

As for buying it for less in the aftermarket, true, you can for many issues, yet, probably not for this one at this issue price.

I reckon they raised the price if they were selling fast at $199.98. I bought 2 at $199.98, and I expect these will rise to over $300

SQG, the fact that you've gotten in on every one that you wanted proves that it's possible and that's really all that I expect from the Mint.

Their job is to sell the product, not worry who they sell it to.

That's one way to spin it. Others may not agree.

Ever hear of The Triad? Yep, the Mint, the grading companies, and the large dealers. You may say unlikely, yet, not impossible or the first time something like that happened. As a matter of fact it happens everyday. I'd love to see what the Inspector General finds.

Like the 2011 Anniversary set right? I just shake my head when I see responses like this one.

It's not spin. It's an opinion. Spin implies that I have an interest in what anyone else thinks. I don't.

I do believe I referenced this very triad at the October 2016 meeting in Philly at the Federal Reserve. You know it's a corrupt system, through and through. I know it, and THEY know it too. They. Don't. Care. They may as well literally be telling us , "neener, neener, neener!" I only blame the Mint a little bit. The other two of the triad are rotten to the core, TPGS's and wholesale dealers. They suck value out of the system and put back ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

In my humble opinion, this one's more appropriate:

It ceased being about numismatics or coin collecting long ago. Now it's just another corporate money factory.
