2017 S Proof Silver Eagle Congratulations set bought up by Big Coin Company's

You know I seen these listed on Ebay too and figured it was just an error or something but the cert # checks out

So what is PCGS trying to say that they can somehow identify coins that have an S mint mark that were actually minted in Denver not San Francisco? Or did they confuse these with the regular ASE's that lack a mint mark yet came from different facilities?

Were these coins struck at BOTH Denver and San Francisco? More importantly, do the Denver proofs have a S mint mark????

 

Based on what we see here, one would have thought, but alas, no. What we see here is mere rampant incompetence, of the sort we are slowly becoming accustomed to from PCGS.

So, which slab disappoints you more? NGC, with a "Early Release" special label on an issue sold out within two minutes, or PCGS, with a San Francisco Mint coin minted in Denver? Sounds vaguely familiar with what happened with the unsold California Pacific International Exposition halves of 1935/36.

Hey, it could be worse. They could have worked together and we'd have the very rare and very dangerous Denver cable cars slabs.
