Did I miss another troll? Lame.

This forum is dope, yo!

Irl, my brother and I are very socially awkward and it can be hard to make friends. I have more issues than he does, so it's a bit harder for me. My brother chooses to keep to himself and not really get involved in online communities, so I post on his behalf.

The members of this forum have been incredibly gracious and patient with me. For, this I am truly grateful. I can imagine there are other places where we would be ignored. But, we were welcomed here with open arms. :D

    You're all total bosses!

    Keep up the great work!

    Erin :D

In general, my definition of a good coin group is one where folks take their coins seriously but not themselves. We have quite a range of people here including some who probably agree with me on almost nothing except perhaps that it is not necessary for everyone to be a clone. My background in life has introduced me to many egomaniacs and fools. I find it fortunate when I find a place where coin people who are neither congregate.

Kentucky beat me to it. I was going to say if you guys break out candles and start singing Kumbaya - I was leaving. Ha!

Seriously, I am thankful for happening on this forum. I was researching a coin for value, and stumbled on it. I ignored the ancients thinking that they were beyond my means, because anything that old had to be too expensive.

But, I looked in on occasion, and it became quite interesting. That's when I started a thread asking what all of you thought would be the best 1st Ancient coin for me. I had a $20 limit. Yah, right!

Anyway, even though my questions were very naïve, you folks were patient and offered lots of great advice. I've bought several coins now, and am still feeling my way into this fine hobby. Trying to figure out all the research, identification, and how to present these things. I don't post mostly because I don't have much to add that most here don't already know.

One thing I noticed other than all that has been said prior, it that this site is extremely well made. The programmer's added a lot of nice features to make it function, and interact in great fashion. Such as the quote feature. Or, inserting pictures and text.

Anyway, thank you one and all for the advice, guidance, and informative write-ups.

Personally, I enjoy your posts and those you post from your brother. You bring a lot to the forum, and I feel you are a great personality with us. Thanks, and continue to Coin-On! :)

Erin definitely ups the Canadian "niceness" quota ...

Yah, I keep trying to drag it through the mud, but Erin, Ajax, Panzerdawg and a couple of others are trying their best to keep Canada's image squeaky clean!

LOL, Years ago I was responsible for Canadian operations for a company I was at. Never lived there, but a lot of business trips and interaction. Always enjoyed you all's Country. :)

LOL, and my first flight ever was when I was a 9 year-old tyke, and it was in a Bush Plane no less! Fun taking off and landing on a lake... O Canada!

You are not the only Canadian who loves dragging Canada through the mud, but this little guy is definitely cuter and quite tasty. Ahhh, Canadian bacon. Yum!

And if it wasn't for people like John Anthony and @Smojo , whom i can always shoot a private email to on a whim and discuss specific coin types I might be thinking about buying, and other aspects of this hobby, my collecting experience would not be as rich and rewarding.[/QUOTE]
    Aw gee thanks @Sallent
This is an awsome forum. I've been here just over a year, I atleast look at the threads daily. Sometimes my schedule is hectic and it has been just that the past few weeks and just a peak is all I have time to do.
There's not enough space to name everyone who's helped me in some way or another. Since I made the jump from moderns to ancients I've learned loads from members here.
I've been a member or atleast checked out other forums but the people here are genuinely happy to share their knowledge with others.
I also appreciate the members that I PM with either often to just occasionally.
It's nice to be able to bounce an idea or specific question without worry of being labeled.
I don't remember exactly how I stumbled on to this forum but it was completely accidental. I also at the time had bought my second ancient and wasn't sure if it was the direction I was going to go. After my first thread on the ancient forum the way I was received and answered my questions, well all I can say is it was a hell of a lot better than the U.S coins forum. You all have made learning and collecting a lot of fun.

Hear! Hear! CT is great place to spend time, enjoy coins, learn, and be with (cyber) friends. Give how few and far between we are on the ground, it is the best place to be "together" with like-minded friends.

I moved last year. Before that, aside from one beginner I had cultivated in my town, the closest collector I knew of was 140 miles away. Having ancient coins in common was enough to make us good friends and we visited each other every couple of months. Now I am unaware of any other ancient-coin nut within 200 miles (I live in northest Oregon). You can understand why I appreciate the good atmosphere and interesting conversations on CT.

It's almost the same way here. I know 2 other collectors of ancients in the area at the moment but one is also in the tech industry and works long and occasionally odd hours like I do so we get to sit down and talk coins maybe once every 6 months if we're lucky. Even the coin show in Denver so far as I can tell only ever has one or two ancients dealers in a sea of bullion and modern coin dealers, not enough to make it worth going to. CoinTalk certainly makes the hobby a lot less lonely.

I'm not sure a day passes when I don't check out new posts on this site, and I know I couldn't say that about any other ancient coin site I had been a part of. But the most fun part to me is seeing some of the coolest ancients that I never even knew existed. I still remember someone posted a pic of a facing Pegasus coin from Leukas Akarnania. I have been searching for it ever since. I saw it and I had to have it.

I know many of us do that, see a coin that we didn't know existed or is very appealing in some way, then go and grab one. I do it often. Admittedly it's more for world moderns but has been with ancients a few times.

Very much understand. Just blew a wad on a cool coin that someone had. Theirs was probably stupid expensive, because mine was several orders not as pretty, but it is a VERY cool, scarce coin. And, you all know me... I really don't collect the "mainstream" Roman Rulers / Greek coins as much... :)

I was also invited here by a friend. I think Mat might be getting paid by the person.

I am fond of this site and the people in here. I am consistently learning and enjoying myself. Hard to beat that for entertainment.
