So now you're claiming the coin you admitted to knowing wasn't unc to begin with was now "intentionally damaged" by the seller, using a method that doesn't magically turn an uncirculated coin into circulated (regardless of what you assume), and was because he was upset at the good price? I seriously mean no disrespect, but do you have the faintest idea how ridiculous you're now sounding? I'm sorry, but you can't change your stories half way through and expect no one to notice. And as for the tape issue, you're wrong as is as simple as that. That said, kudos for being fair and reasonable in regards to feedback.
Thanks for the input, but I think everyone is assuming that I have a bottle of acetone lying around. I don't because I just moved to Germany. Also, driving to the store to buy a $5 bottle of acetone just to remove tape residue, which is damaging to a coin, eats away at any profit I could've made. Thanks again, though, everyone seems to be stuck on the tape (pun intended).

I don't think you'd appreciate receiving coins you purchased with tape on them. I also don't think that when you message the seller to let them know they shouldn't have used tape and it can ruin coins (because it can, regardless of whether people want to pretend an UNC coin with tape on its face is still UNC) and get a nasty reply that you would be happy with that either. And yes, the seller did something that now causes me extra work that I should not have to do. I wouldn't have bid the amount I did had I known they were going to come wrapped in tape. Just because I got the coins for lower than melt does not make me the bad guy. My actual bid was pretty fair and it just so happened no one else bid at the end. That's the joy and pain of eBay. Also, I never used the word terrible (did I? I don't remember using it to describe his actions). You seem to have this nasty image of ebay buyers and their mindsets. What frustrated me most was his flippant reply that said "I don't have time for you, you got your coins, the end". Had he given me anything other than a rude response, I wouldn't have even bothered to post the question in the first place. My question was based on his crappy customer service, not the coins having tape (yet everyone wants to focus on the tape for some reason). The tape was an annoyance and something I felt worthy of contacting the seller about because if he tapes all his coins, he's going to have problems. Please reference my comment a page ago on what I actually rated the seller and the analogy I provided with the burger. I think it'll give you a little insight. Also, please stop taking your personal frustrations out on me. I am not the buyer who screwed your eBay ratings and thus got you so angry that you keep pestering me over tape when I'm frustrated about poor customer service. You're clearly projecting here and it's bordering harassment. For me, I don't think there's any need to continue this because I'm happy to agree to disagree and stop a needless discussion. Have a great day.
I think the issue is people are focused on the tape and I'm focused on the seller's flippant response. I messaged him because putting tape on coins is a bad move. If he had given me anything other than a rude response, I'd have moved on. He also shipped the coins late and didn't reply to my message to him until I opened a case about it. These are the reasons I considered giving him a bad rating, not simply because he put tape on coins.
Free money under melt silver yes all day long please anyone mail it to me I will not complain. So he shipped under melt metal and you are bitter that you might have to actually do something? Are you kidding at this point? 5 dollars? You are losing It here. 5 dollars was your sale price.......
It wasn't "free money under melt" it is either free money, or it is money under melt. If you're going to get flippant, at least be accurate. "Actually have to do something." What do you even mean here? Buyers shouldn't have to do anything but receive what they purchase. But even so, what exactly are you getting at? Now I have to drive to the local store and buy acetone and then clean tape residue. Who wants to go through that much effort for a couple of bucks? Apparently you. By the time I drive to the store and buy a 5-6 euro bottle of acetone, and then clean the coins, I'll actually have lost money and a good hour or two of my time. I didn't bid $5, I bid more, and I wouldn't have bid what I did if I knew the coins would come taped. I'm happy with my purchase price. I'm unhappy with the seller's late shipment, first ignoring my message about the coins not being shipped (I purchased March 26th and received them April 12th), then being rude when I told him taping coins was a poor choice. That's what I'm upset about, it's not about the tape. No matter how many times I say it's not about the tape, you can't get past the tape. Focusing on the tape allows you to ignore the overall poor experience I had with him as a seller. Clearly you're just angry and taking your anger out here. I hope you feel better and also that you stay off eBay as that word is clearly a trigger for you.
I agree with most of your points: late shipping, rude messages, poor packaging, tape!? - yes, this seller screwed up big time. But you can't really expect "customer service" as you bought those coins from a random guy on eBay, who does not call himself "coin dealer" and who doesn't consider you as a customer. You showed class by leaving positive feedback, now it's his turn... ask him if he has time to leave feedback
C-B-D said "Nail polish hanging around". You don't want to put nail polish on coins. I think he meant to say nail polish remover.
Good point. I read it as nail polish remover. Either way, we don't have any of either. It's set to be delivered on Friday though!
