It has been tooled, but still a nice coin to have. I'd say it would grade Very Fine Details.

Despite the tooling, it is a very lovely coin; much better than my almost can't read dated one in my type set. I'd say around VF Details.

Hmmm - details but upper end VF or lower end XF. I waffled back and fourth on it so still not sure where I would net it at. As mentioned still a lot of meat left on it. Nice pick-up. I still have one of marshalls coins also. :)

You know I liked it. It is better in the copper than in photos. What is really outstanding is the sharp edge on this coin giving it that meaty feel in hand.

    I'm glad I could help.

I know what you mean. I settled on VF30 details primarily because of the lack of a sharp line separating the forehead from the hairline. The bigger question is where to net the coin and that is subject to a a lot of different opinions, even my own. I thought Net F12 from photos but upped it to net F-15 in the copper.

Definitively the details of a VF30 coin, even a little better in my opinion.
The obverse has a very nice appearance; the reverse, well, less so.
As Marshal says, the issue is where to net it. Lots on issues on that reverse....
I guess I would net it at F12.

I bought this because I love the type 1 hair style. I didn't really care about what the reverse looked like; I wouldn't really be looking at it in my type set album.
