Just to make sure... If I go to the bank, and get boxes of things, how many rolls, and what is the face value Pennies-$25 and 50 rolls What about nickels, and dimes, quarters and halves? Thanks everyone
I have a couple boxes of nickels and they are a $100 box ..50 rolls x $20 in a roll. I also have 4-5 quarters boxes and they are a $500 box ...50 rolls at $10 in a roll. I never had an interest in dimes. I hate Rosies.
We oldtimers tend to think of bags rather than boxes. A bag was 100 rolls or $50, $200, $500, $1000, and $1000 for cents through half dollars. A box is half a bag. Dollar coins are a little different though. The old large size dollars were $1000 bags or 50 rolls and thy never came in boxes as far as I know. The small size dollars came $2000 to the bag or 80 $25 rolls. And they come in 10, 20, and 40 roll boxes ($250, $500, and $1000) Gold coins came in $5,000, $10,000, and $20,000 bags for half eagles through double eagles I don't know if quarter eagles came in $2,500 or $5,000 bags, They didn't come in boxes either.
So now if you go to the bank do you ask for bags or boxes? And how much are the "gold" dollar bags/ boxes?
The half rolls are smaller. 20 coins in a roll, $10 a roll, 50 rolls in a box, $500. 1000 half dollar coins in a box.
Lets do the math, shall we? If HALF dollars come in $500 boxes, then how many HALF dollars come in a box?
Been trying to find out how man half dollars are in a $500 dollar box for a few weeks now. Can someone please just tell me the answer? After trying a dozen different methods, the answer I came up with was 250 in a box (which is why HALF was in capitals) but that doesn't seem right.
