How much does the cleaning and big spot hurt the value?

This is a fairly high grade 16-D. What do you think a good price to offer would be. I'll bet the coin would be nice after a dip!

High grade? My eyesight isn't all that good, but those sure look like hairlines that I see on the reverse.

The cleaning devalued the coin far more than the spot does. Any coin retaining that amount of detail is also expected to retain most of its original mint luster. This coin possesses almost none. In my opinion, this coin will never look natural enough . . . and will look even less natural if you dip off what color it already displays.

    Is that "D" really OK?

Edit: based on your previous thread, I'll guess one of:

    a) No, it's not the cleaning or the spot that hurts the value.

    b) I do like it when a place that installs new stuff on my car gives it a good cleaning when they're done...

The placement of the mint mark is close but, should be higher and closer the leaf.

Yeah, you're right . . . it's of the wrong shape, and looks chased. I should've looked at it longer instead of dismissing it out of hand.

History don't repeat itself........just folks who fail to heed the past and failing to learn by/from it.
