    The date was never there, so
    there's nothing to X-Ray.

    It was covered by the Die Cap
    that struck this coin.

    Fred and Paddyman98 are right. I could x-ray it but the date was never there so there is nothing to see. But if you gave me the capped die I could x-ray through the cap and read the date just fine.
    If it came out of a roll of new cents then you could make the assumption that it was from the same year. I have done that with a planchet I found in a roll of 98D cents.

    Cool coin paddyman, I was suprised to see your post at the top of the list when I got online after 5 days of being away. Only because I was able to pick-up a coin like yours this past weekend. [my first] I went on a little coin vacation to New York no less. Will be posting it soon.
