Recarved coin "But what was it"

    This is a coin i recarved this week, this coin has been recarved for many years, but is not as popular as the recarved buffalo nickels...So how fast can one of you quess what coin it started as..

    But Washington Quarters don't have denticles. Are you saying those were carved by hand?

    Today I was looking at the newest WINS auction and for the first time saw a south Africa shilling. I looked at it again and thought that it sure looked like this coin so I came to see it again and saw that someone already guessed it!!!
