Beautiful gold, John! Looks almost PL. Is it graded?

If you feel the need to ask then the answer is probably more than you can afford.

Thanks, yes it was graded by NGC as MS-62.....to me it looks better:happy: The Bayern AV 5 Dukaten MS-65 went for 40K! Kunker sold a "stempelglanz" one for 15K euros! There also was a MS-62 Bayern 1847 Dukat Ludwig I /sold for 1900.

I think they couldn't go any higher as it technically looks like an AU58 to me...

Yes, Kunker seems to handle many AV coins from German States, they very sledom grade any coin "stempelglanz" Last night, Heritage had a bunch of graded Newfoundland Victoria AV $2.00 coins 1865-1888. All of the MS-63/64 examples were so blemished/ bagmarked/ even the wear on Victoria's hair was noticeable. Yet all sold way over estimate. When you think of a coin, minted in 1850s, that is perfect mintstate/ almost impossible to conceive.
