I bought a 1909 indian head penny just wondering if anyone has a estimate on what it would grade. And did i pay to much for it? Paid 5$ 20170408_163316.jpg 20170408_163345.jpg

It appears to have full "Liberty" and a couple of diamonds so, no, you did not do too bad but the verdigris is not helping this coin. Maybe some Verdicare might help. It's at least a Fine, maybe a bit better.

Yeah that was the main reason i bought it, it does have full "Liberty" the L and I are a bit faint but it is there. Where would i get that at? I'm not sure what it is as i am somewhat new to this but its the green color right?

Yes, the green color. Someone here knows better about where to purchase the Verdicare. I'll wait for someone else to chime in.

Pretty sure you can only buy Verdicare from Wizard Coin Supply or directly from BadThad (member here; PM him).

Barely Fine, but the price is fairly good, given the condition (green).

    I'd give it a 12. I thin the 09p IHP is a sleeper
And will go up in value!!!

It's being eaten away faster than the value is rising. Given how "bright" the green is, I'm not so sure it's verdigris.

Quite right, could be PVC also.

No thats my camera its not like that in person. And anyone know or tried the baking soda and water for cleaning verdigris? Will it make it less valuable or ruin the coin?

It wasnt stored in plastic, and it doesn't look like holes or bumbs either. And it comes right off. I'll post a new pic.

If you wipe a coin with PVC residue, you'll see green on the cloth, but there is still still a lot on the coin. Try acetone. If it isn't PVC residue (green Slime) you haven't hurt anything.

I wouldn't use baking soda. You will not only remove the green, but also polish off any toning, leaving an artificially bright and shiny finish.

I have a stricter interpretation of full LIBERTY, I would grade it as F. Price is OK.
