So I asked my son pick up a box of nickels and two boxes of pennies from his bank a while back and when he showed up with them they weren't boxes, they were bags! The nickels are rolled and one, and part of the other, bag of pennies are rolled. He said they told him that an old man had passed away and that all this change was in his house and that they were just saying that it would be cool if a collector would come in and get it! Anyway, I'm just getting around to starting to go through them and out of my first nickel roll (ever) I found what appears to possibly be a die clash. So far out of the almost 2 rolls I've gone through I haven't found a coin older than 1998. This might be very interesting...
Hehehe! I'm excited about it! It will be a slow process because I'm a full time student and work about 15 hours a week ( well I'm going to school anyway). Not nearly enough time! Plus I inspect each coin pretty closely for errors, so.....yeah. I'll keep u updated.
Oh yeah! I love it! Thank you! It's funny my son showed up with these canvass like (?) bags looking like he just robbed a bank. Lol one of them says return to the bank, and one of the others says return to the US mint. I've never seen them before, but then I've never gotten bags of coins from the bank before! Lol
I looked at some cents, nickels, dimes and quarters at a bank branch the other day - like $10K worth - they were all rolled by date and mintmark. Out of all of them the only roll I bought was the one that said miscellaneous wheats. All the rest were dated in the 1970s, 1980s etc. The background story was that an older lady was bringing them in about twice a week from her late husband's stash. It appeared as though she may have taken the real goodies to the coin dealer - good for her.
Well, I just got around to going through the first roll of pennies. 45 of them were copper(no wheats though), with the majority being 1981. And 2 2009 tributes.
Okay, I've been going through the nickels. So far they are from the 1980's (a lot of 1981 in them too), and some 1990, 1995, and 1996. I have found a few interesting (to me) ones, but I'll wait until I get finished going through them to post anything, and then I'll start a thread. A lot of these nickels are in really good condition...
