Well you folks just kept writing and writing about it until you got me curious. I just went down to the bank & bought a $500 box of quarters... hope to find some silver... seated .... something valuable. The good news is the other bank in town (where I have an account) has a coinstar in the lobby and as long as you deposit the money you don't have to pay a fee... so I don't have to re-roll it after I finish searching. Ok.. off to hunt now ...
Haha, good luck on the seated. The best ive found in a roll of quarters is a 1927 SLQ in G-6. If i found a seated, i would have a heart attack.
Good luck CoinGal. That would sure be nice to find something that old in a roll from the bank. I dont roll search too much anymore but I'd be happy just to find some old silver Washingtons.
All I can say, is that you would probably have better luck with Halves, possibly even dimes. With quarters, you need to be well versed on varieties to make it worth your time. Might not hurt to check your library for the cherrypickers guide (someone please correct me on the exact title). At a minimum, you have the change counter going for you. Maintain a good relationship with that bank. Good Luck
well, hopefully you'll find something. silver in quaters is hard to find. they are so commonly used, silver gets picked out fast. the only way you would find silver is if someone just cashed in a collection recently. look the proofs and the extra leaf winconsin quarter!:high5:
If you found a seated quarter in a roll, I might have to quit pennies and nickels and move on to quarters! Good luck with your roll-searching! I hope you find something good!
well for those waiting & hold your breath ~ halfway through the box .. one canadian silver quarter but otherwise all clad statehood / washingtons... and no . i'm not searching for leaves, etc... i was just hunting for something rare or silver. i agree.. i did pick up 6 rolls of half dollars the other day & got 2 40% so the odds were better.. the rest awaits... back to the hunt (after a slice of pizza)
Yeah it is rare enough but my eyes aren't keen enough to look at 50,000 quarters for errors and varieties in the time that my pocketbook can allow to have $500 clinking around. To do that I'd need to go a few rolls at a time each week.
