Why are toned coins so popular?

I like chocolate by itself. I like vanilla with Hershey's chocolate syrup and crushed walnuts.

As I said, it is none of your business. But I am not averse to putting a lower limit on it. Let it suffice to say that in the middle of next month it will be 40 years since I earned the right to put Dr. in front of my name. Given your immature attitude I would guess that that is longer than you have been alive.

Just because someone expresses an interest contrary to yours and asks a valid question as to why people appreciate something is no reason to believe that that person is a neophyte.

And it looks positively ugly. Sure it has nice details but I doubt I would pay more than melt for it unless I thought I could sell it for a profit.

I don't "know" but I'd be willing to bet that any silver coins that spent any significant time in or near the coastal swamps of SC and GA and even far northern FL would have significant toning.

 

I love toned coins, but I'm a fan of subtlety with it. A nicely toned rim or evenly toned rose color is more appealing than vibrant rainbow to me.

I'm putting together a set of BU silver roosevelts right now. Collecting white and toned, but being such a long running (and current) coin, the toned ones really stand out as unique and add some nice flavor.

 

Creating a thread and calling what others collect ugly is a bit unfriendly. Sure you have that right but still.

 

Not really. I am trying to understand. I find it ugly: others don't. I've already conceded the vanilla vs chocolate issue.

 

Not sure why they are picking on you sakata... I too (as I said) find it ugly... and to top it off, so much of it is fake....
