geewhilickers I sure got a lot of grease filled die today. First Oklahoma now he homestead not the greatest pic of it but I'll put more tonight. Just look at the bottom of the bucket
The bottom of the bucket looks like there's a blob under it. Touching the bottom of the buckey and almost touching the ground. The bottom of the bucket is supposed to be straight. Looks like a grease filled die error. I like these cause it seems like this is the only errors I can find lol
Oh sweet. I assume it's not worth much unless it's perfect or AU right? Idk why I can't tell the difference between die chops and grease filled
I see where I got confused. sorry. Lol I thought the girl was saying her quarter was a die chip and my quarter was a grease filled. Yes Chris said it's a die chip but it's all good I know the difference now but here better pics
Coins with minor die chips such as this would not be worth more than face value regardless of their condition. Unless you get very lucky and find a coin from circulation that will grade MS70, you can forget about any premium over face value. If you don't already have a book about grading US coins, then maybe you should consider buying one. Chris
I have found a wide variety of these leaky buckets here's a thread you may be interesting in. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/leaky-bucket-plus.275968/ Grease fill die is a well-known and established term, like other members have told you it does not apply to your coin. It also seems that there is a change in the air grease fill die is slowly being phased out. There is a growing change for debris fill die or filled die. As you will soon see, a lot of members are resisting this change. And if you do a little research like I did, you will notice the only use of the old terminology is on talk forums like CT. And if you take a little time and Google grease filled dies you will see exactly what I mean. usmc60
In your future threads try to take pictures with less distracting backgrounds! Use a plain white piece of paper or something like black leather (I use my wallet) This one picture you posted is interesting though.. looks like the Numerals and Letters from your book combine together, but that's why it's distracting!
I dont have a credit card(or debit card) so i would buy this if i had the nearest book store but i ride VIA skateboard... and thats super far to figure out they dont have the book im lookin for. So unless you buy this for me for my birthday, i will remain like a broken record, just like you! (birthday April 2nd 1990 )
I think i will just stop posting here cause im too stupid [language] My birthday present I am thinking im just not gonna post here because this place does make me feel stupid half the time and not smart the other half. Ill just get my book and shut up. i guess i bit more than i could chew with the error coins. ill search for my wheaties and silver and be cool now lol
My intention was not to make you feel the way you do! I was just trying to help! So I am sorry.. ok? You have done good with other threads you have created. At least you are not a troll like many others I have seen lately! Happy Birthday dude!
meh, i just dont feel like ill find much in errors and the ones that i do i guess i got mixed up. but now i get it. and really... if i had a urgent question on the subject ill just refer back to this place or ill have my book by then. anyways thanks for helping im just saying why im not postin much anymore. no reason to because all i get is stupid stuff no one really cares bout.
A happy birthday. tyler do not let our resident butt heads discouraged you. The only stupid question is the one that wasn't asked. Sometimes you have to take these members with a grain of salt. And just remember they were once where you are now, and most of them had to rely on books. And it is quite obvious you have access to the Internet. You can look up and research almost anything and not spend your hard earned money on books. Because frankly a lot of books have too many inconsistencies and that are outdated. A variety of the old books were created when the mint had a totally different coinage procedure. Even the way the mint produced coins 30 years ago is completely different today And may possibly change tomorrow. USMC60
Amazing! A 27 year old who relies on a skateboard for transportation. If you think that my suggestions are nothing more than a "broken record" then maybe you will find fewer and fewer people willing to help you. You need to improve your attitude. Chris
I like how you touched on that. first thing I thought when I read it was...27 and no checking account?
Am I not allowed to be poor at 27? You are so quick to say "buy a book" but when someone explains why after hearing it a million times, you think they have an attitude problem. Sorry I can't afford shit. There's obviously a reason why I do coins. =_= thanks. Someone help me one last time and show me how to delete my account on here?
