I see that you are talking about, and probably not a legit error.

    Then what caused it?

If it was my imagination, how did Frank see it?
:vanish:Nelson, could you please not make a mean comment on the threads I start? Just for once? Now, like usual, everyone's just going to pay attention to us arguing and say things like "Brothers!" and no one will actually respond to the original question.

Quit over-reacting. I told you what it was, you didn't want to believe it wasn't an error so you posted it on here to try to prove me wrong.

I did it to make sure it wasn't an error. It never hurts to double check.:smile

Hambone, I agree with Colin, you shouldn't pick on all his threads..BEHAVE!

    lol

ok..so this is the second post about coins with 'ghostly' letters on them..so what is this caused by?
I don't buy the 'coins bumping into each other' explanation

ghost letters can be caused by grease filling a part of the die and then falling out, onto the die.
The next coin struck will have the impression of the grease struck into it.

Also, Spock-- can that work if I put my key dates together? I'd like a couple more 1913 S Barber quarters.

Cool! So that's what happened. Thanks Frank:hail::bow:. Maybe one day I'll actually find something worth something.

Use the second pic. It's the same picture, without the outline.

Yes, quite a nice "ghost letter", if it was from a punch then the die wouldn't have been used.
