True. But as I have found out these past few months, there are also some crooked buyers engaging in all kinds of scams on eBay.

I inherited my Grandpa's hoard of silver dimes when he passed away... he had no idea any dates had special value. So yes, the truly "unsearched" hoards and/or rolls are out there, but they are few and far between.

I would say proceed with caution, but if you're willing to pay the asking price for the two end coins alone, it could be a fun way to fill some spaces in your book.

A LCS I visit sometimes has 5 gallon buckets of wheats that you can buy by the cupful. Owner claims he bought them all from one source, and that it's not worth his time to search through the buckets. He also says someone found a 1931-S. But even if he didn't search them, it's possible the original owner did.

In this case, I always ask if there's a story associated with the purchase... in my personal experience, most legitimate coin dealers are transparent when it comes to this kind of thing.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Maybe the prior searcher was so consumed looking for errors or "doubled dies which are not" that they didn't notice that 31-S or 14-D or 1922 with a mushy obverse strike, eh?:D:rolleyes:

I gave eBay a shot with some BU wheatie enders. Guess what the inside looked like? Nothing shiny at all. Mostly 40's and 50's with a couple steelies. I stacked them by decade for reference. I've heard that there are good ones out there, but I'm not sure where.

Not a bad roll. Mostly 30s, top row 2 Indian heads (1880 & 1897), some teens, 20s, few 40s and few 50s. Nothing spectacular but some hole fillers in here.

    The dimes got interesting...
    1875 CC Below Bow (VG10-F15), 3 Barbers (all G4-VG8), 26s G4-F12, 31d G4-VG8 and 5 in the 40s that are MS60-MS-65

Peace dollars were in good shape. All between EF40-MS60. Mostly 22's and 23's, a few S's but I'm gonna have to sit and spend some time with them. After some reading I realized, as all of you know, there are so many VAMs for these that I want to do the homework before I feel like I have something. So far no earrings but a line through a crown running down behind libertys head. I'll edit this if I find anything special.

I'm sorry but the crimp job on this roll gives it away that it was already searched.
