Can I conserve/clean this properly?

    Nice score, based on the real photos coin looks fine as is. I'd say XF45, but could see it going AU. Gotta to love when the bad photo gamble pays off in your favor.

    The old Whitman paper flip had "1836 half" written on it, along with "VG" crossed out and "F" written next to that.

    So which is it? Grade inflation? Or is it just that the old-timers didn't have a clue about grading?

    I'm not sure what device or flash he used to make it look like that. He did it a disservice, though.
