In the last batch of pennies that I picked up, then finding a ton of 1984D that I could swear have doubling on the W in the front of In God We trust and the doubling on United States of America on the reverse. Was wondering if anybody has seen this type before. Thank you

Here are pics. They look relatively uncirculated, so didn't think it was wear at first. IMG_5277.JPG IMG_5278.JPG IMG_5279.JPG IMG_5280.JPG

Very true, that little letter always makes my day though.
I've gone through countless cent rolls since last June and have only found 5 pre 40s with a mintmark.
I seem to come across 1918 and 1919 (P) wheatbacks fairly often, it's the 1920s that I have no luck with. The only 20s holes I've filled from the wild are 1920, 27, 28, and 29S.

So far, I've completed almost 1/2 (43 of 89) of the "book one" Lincolns from the wild.

The older mint mark coins are rare over here on the east coast. Many of mine were given to me by my father, who had a few extras from his collection. He got them coin hunting in MN when he was a kid.

But there are still a number of blank slots in my primary book. Keeps me looking. :)

My Girlfriend got a large portion of her Father's coin collection. He had Indian Heads, Wheats, Memorial Nickels, Mercs, Old Washingtons, Frankie's, and one Peace dollar. There was a 1858 flying eagle too. Everything was in such crappy condition that we were pretty upset. I took out the Red Book and almost all key dates were not in the collection. I checked for errors on each one too and found nothing. Amazing what storing a coin collection in a drawer for 40 years can do to destroy it.

Why do you say storing the coins in a drawer destroyed them? Were they loose and rattling around?

they're all worn and have spots on them.

$1.00 in loose halves at the bank yielded a 1963 Frankie! The teller said here take them one is silver.

I found a 1939s yesterday. Not nearly as good condition as yours though.

About $100 in halves... one 40% impaired proof bicentennial.
