FYI, starting May 1, 2017 eBay will roll out new fees for Store subscribers. Instead of the standard 6% rate for listings posted to the Coins & Paper Money category (not sure what they're called in other countries), it goes up to 6.15%. Most of the other categories will experience the same 0.15% fee increase. Granted, it's not a huge increase for most sellers, but after reading their justification, it's a load of... "We periodically evaluate fees, credits, and benefits. We are increasing our investment in our platform, marketing efforts, and tools to enhance both the seller and buyer experience. We believe that the current final value fees are appropriate for ensuring the best marketplace health and competition." In other words, they're not doing anything substantial and any interface or marketing changes were likely already planned, making the fee increase coincide with a convenient excuse. And the last statement, ...increasing fees "are appropriate for ensuring the best marketplace health and competition"? No, they have it the other way around. Unless they mean that these fee increases will ensure practically similar competitive results, thereby, maintaining the status quo "best". All in all, it's not a huge increase for sellers and a huge increase for eBay, but their reasoning is not sound. It does make me wonder exactly how much market power eBay has, or what target performance eBay is trying to achieve and why.
The biggest fee increase is actually a DECREASE of their top rated discount. Going from a 20% discount down to 10. Ouch.
I'm letting my eBay listings dwindle down to just enough to maintain a minor presence . . . nothing more.
Do you know when that's going to take place? So at the new fee of 6.15%, the effective fee for top rated sellers is increasing from 4.92% to 5.535%. Whereas right now at 6%, top rated sellers are paying a 4.8% fee for coins and paper money. Then the overall before and after fee increase is 0.735%. Those should definitely add up, especially for large volume sellers.
Just when you thought they were giving us the sham with the eBay Bucks crap. Instead of breaking one leg, they've decided to take care of both for you.
I called them yesterday about the fact that I haven't seen ONE EBay Bonus Bucks promotion this entire first quarter, for me as a buyer or me as a seller! Was on the phone forever as the Rep didn't know what to say. She then said that a team would check my account to make sure I get notifications in the future. I call BS! I used to get notifications every 2-3 weeks for one, and on January 1, that stopped. Sure are looking out for their sellers and buyers in 2017...NOT!
It's the end of the quarter tomorrow, and there's a push now to get you $15 off $75 or more in purchases. I think it's available to everyone, you just need to enter in a code (not sure if it's specific to each user or if it's a generic code). Expires tonight end of calendar day.
Ebay is what it is. They'll have an increase next year too, and the next. But, it's still the best place to sell coins, not all coins, but some.
Yes, flea bay is what it is. I try to forget about how I am nickeled and dimed to death by them. Try to forget the fact that they no longer offer extra free ads to their users like they did a year ago. Its a new business model Soak the sellers I think they call it. But maybe there motto should be “We might not be good but there’s none better”!!
