Hey guys, a newbie here.. still learning, please see the photo i attached of a penny, which has sort of a cone on it just above 1959. Is this an error or somebody has scratched it?? But it is so neat, doesn't seem scratched. Thanks in advance
It is scratched, I'm sorry to have to say. Might have been done with a straight ruler or something similar. Definitely PMD - Post Minting Damage Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on it, but it didn't leave the Mint like this.
Assuming you are who your username suggests, welcome to the forum, sir. Your knowledge and experience will be most helpful and appreciated here.
Thanks for the welcome - Yes, I just joined after a few suggestions from someone else on this forum to do so. Hope I can contribute to some posts. Fred
First, welcome to the neighborhood! You look like someone I've heard of! Could it be true? Post some errors if you have them! This might turn out to be fun! Chris
Sorry, but I can't post photos - never was able to in CU either. I'll post to certain threads, but sorry that I just won't post photos........ Been doin' error coins since the early/mid '60's, and 2017 is the 46th year I've been a full-time dealer......
I can appreciate the "no photo" policy where it may serve as self-promotion for your website. I was thinking more in terms of photos that you have archived over the years that would add to a particular discussion, here. Chris
Glad to have you aboard Mr. Weinberg. Your reputation is highly repected and I'm sure I speak for all in that you will be a very valued member of our community. Tom
Simply posting pictures would not. Our rules regarding self-promotion only apply when offers to buy, sell, or trade are involved - nothing else.
