Well after much studying.........Still have no idea lol....But going for no 4 ! Something about the nose...!!! Who knows !! Ha ha
Sometimes Vespasian also sported 'Vitellian' drooping eye sockets or brows. Not that I'm giving any hints!
indeed sir, (jeepers) blows that right out of the water. as Neil D Tyson says.. it may be the right answer, for the wrong reason.
Vitellian = No. 1 because he has other eyebrows which differ from Vespasian eyebrows though at No. 5 a nose as at Vitellian
The coin arrived yesterday and now I'm ready to post it and reveal the answer. (I'm kind of superstitious about posting coins online before receiving them ...) Vespasian is coin #1. AR Denarius Rome mint, 69-70 AD RIC 19 (C), BMC 7, RSC 84 Obv: IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG; Head of Vespasian, lauerate, r. Rev: COS ITER FORT RED; Fortuna, draped, standing l.,setting r. hand on prow and holding cornucopiae in l. hand This denarius features one of the most unusual portraits of Vespasian I've ever come across from Rome. Certainly a very early issue! And for full disclosure. I tried to make the choice as easy as possible since the Vespasian portrait is really odd. #2 and #4 are classic Vitellius. The only curve ball is #3 which is very much in the same style as #1, probably from the same engraver.
