Hi there. Trying to determine the value of this coin my son has had for years. I am no where near a coin collector so bear with me here....
Liberty head coin (worn) with stars around diameter...1803 is clear.....Roman numeral V on back but appears upside down until it's turned.......

Can anyone help here? I can't seem to find much info regarding this particular half dime piece or is it called a 5 cent piece?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance!

It is not an 1803. It is either an 1883 or 1903 being altered.

That is a Liberty Nickel, produced from 1883-1913.

It's unlikely to be something designed to deceive, more like someone with too much time on their busy hands. :)

    Happens a lot.
