It’s a 1934-S Peace Dollar that I’ve had for 12 years in 7 more weeks. The mint luster is all over this beauty. Its value has doubled since I’ve had it. PCGS graded as a MS-64 but I think it would get a grade higher or a CAC if I submitted it. That’s not going to happen.
Yeah, I grew up believing that the 1921 and 1928-P were the keys to the series. But in that grade, you could swap that 34-S for a 1921 and a 1928-P, both in MS64 - and they'd still owe you a four-figure sum to make it an even trade, I think. ... in fact, according to Numismedia, you could swap it for one each of the six next best condition rarities (21, 24-S, 27-D, 27-S, 28-P, 28-S) in the series, all in MS64, and still be owed a few dollars!
It was a good thing I was sitting when I looked at PCGS for this grade. It has doubled since I bought it and now it’s a five figure coin.
Woweee. I was merely commenting on the coin's eye appeal before. Now, I knew this was a somewhat better date, but had no inkling that this was a $9,750 coin according to PCGS, until I read @-jeffB 's last comment above. Whoa!
