A-OE/EOKP/ATHE/AIONY/EOAO/MOY/EOI; Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; in right field, facing cult statue of Apollo Delios, holding Three Graces and bow; B on amphora, EO below. I still can’t do some of these symbols.
Very nice. I like those New Style owl tetradrachms. For whatever reason, I have never owned one in 50 years of collecting. I do have an Old Style one. And another ancient with an owl. I like owls. I couldn't resist this modern owl, either.
Yes Sir, you do. But, again yours is far nicer than mine. But, I'm glad for you. I know you've worked very hard on your collection, and the parts I've seen of it has been impressive. The one I have works for me. It's real, and in relatively decent condition, so I'm happy with it. I have a few Ancients that either caught my interest (the Owl), or were tied to an important part of History, like one of Alexander the Great, or Coins of the Bible, which is now my focus as far as Ancients go. I've learned so much from CT members. I love seeing what y'all have collected. Thank you for posting your coin. I love to see what one actually looked like when minted.

Comments: Tarentum, one of the largest cities of ancient Calabria, minted smaller denominations imitating Athenian owls, like this drachm. Tarentum was a SPARTAN Colony, with a little known fact that Athena was the Patron Goddess of Sparta. On this variant, Scylla is seen adorning Athena’s helmet, throwing a stone.
