Anyone buying? 1907 Saint-Gaudens High Relief $20 Gold Coin and Silver Medal Set

Couldnt find a thread on this, which i found surprising. I just bought one and came here to see if anyone else did? Cant wait to see in person!

I agree with the silver medal, those flag wings, but i just considered it a freebie in the package.

 

Agree about the medal. I'm not too keen on the HR coins produced by the mint. I bought the 2009 and wound up selling it. @jeffB. When were you crowned as a mod?

 

Gotta agree on the eagle, Liberty has a 70's look and the eagle has a comb over!
That said, that's a beautiful chunk of gold, plus it's .999, 250 years and low mintage of 15k, I'm thinking it's a good buy, just too much for me.

Well I said no but maybe after Mike (Mezack) and Rick (Tomaska) tell me how rare they are I will consider it(not).

 

I bought the 1804 gold one and it's now off for grading, so I blew my budget on that one. I think it was BOM #3

 

For awhile i was checking out the PR70 graded version but ultimately went with a larger 1907, i wish they would have made the coin bigger though.

 

I know a railroad guy. He'll put it on the tracks for you. Make it much bigger.

 

That's funny, when I was a youngster I used to do that quite often, when I became an old man I found out it's illegal to do. Funny how many laws I used to break and not even know it!

 

The 2009 MCMVII (NOT 1907 !! ) was in ultra-high relief. Pretty small coin diameter-wise.

 

This coin is bigger than the 2009 UHR but it is not a proof.

 

I want a high relief St. Gaudens pretty bad. I'll never own a 1907 and went shopping for the 2009 a while back. When I saw it was a much smaller diameter, I reneged. I been thinking hard on this one, but really have a hard time justifying the premium. Still thinking hard on it though.
