    I've said some unkind things about that portrait rendering, but I wouldn't quite say it looks like a ten-year-old corpse.

    I always heard it was Alexander Hamilton's eagle on the reverse. Aaron Burr wanted his on there instead.

    A raped scarecrow running for it's life was my favorite.

    According to wiki Jefferson had 4 daughters out of six that died in childhood. His wife died at 33 several months after giving birth to a 16 pounder. No wonder he stayed a bachelor after that.

    No one knows exactly who she is, but if you compare her with the Gilbert Stuart Athenium portrait, (The Washington portrait is the one which appears on the one dollar bill.) resemblance is fairly strong.

    Stuwart started these portraits of George and Martha, but when he got part way through, he desided that the one of George was so good that he wanted to keep it. He never finished the painting. He kept it to make copies of it. Stuward painting many Washington portraits of varying quality. He called them his "$100 bills" because that how much he got for them.

    Oh, I know....we spend a lot of time in Florida. Back in 2017, in September, we got caught by Hurricane Irma. Power died on the Sunday and stayed out until Friday...5 days without A/C - it was hotter than....

    The finest known? Was at $50K when I stumbled across it last night. At $400K now. Do you suppose it will top $2M? It sold for $1,985,000 in 2018.

    My mind was completely blown when I saw that listing. I admit a blasphemy accidentally was spoken aloud, in my amazement.

    That coin or one similar was offered in an auction in the early 1980s. I thought for about 30 seconds, what if I sold my entire collection to bid on this piece? If I sold everything, I could raise $100 thousand which I thought would swing it. Then I came to my senses.

    I was right about the $100 thousand “winning bid.” The trouble is the coin didn’t really sell and was bought in.
