    I still have mine (10th edition, 1984) and use it from time to time. It was old and out of date when a coin dealer friend down in Mobile, Alabama, gave it to me.) Great reference.

    Well, even though the 1984 prices are 40 years out of date, the “Instant Identifier” section and other resources in that catalog are timeless and will never be obsolete.

    And if I remember correctly, the volumes back then included two centuries in one: 1801 to 1984.

    In 1992 I splurged and got the two-volume ANA Centennial hardcover edition of Krause, which covered three centuries in a special hardcover boxed set: 1701-1992.

    Those books were infinitely worth the investment (which was a considerable sum to me in those very poverty-stricken days).

    Ooh! You had me stumped for about 5-10 seconds, but I think I’ve got it.

    Gotta go to Numista to confirm I’m right. BRB- I’ll post my guess in a spoiler again, so as not to steal the show before everyone else has had a go at it…

    One surefire way to stump me would be to post some Middle Eastern coin with little in the way of pictorial elements to the design, and nothing but Arabic calligraphy on it. Then I probably wouldn't fare so well even if I had the full coin photo to work with. I'm not real strong with Far Eastern coins, either.

    I don't think my 1984 edition starts with the same date for every country. The earliest French issues are 1770s, while in the United States section it lists New England coinage from 1652. Other countries vary. Still, a treasure house of information. Even the valuations give an idea of how relatively scarce or common a coin is.
