Please Grade This 1848 Quarter

    AU-50

    What is going on with the eagle's left wing? Residue? Planchet flaw?

    Probably an AU-50 given the apparent lack of luster in the photos. The grading services might be going higher now because of “grade-flation.” The piece has a lot of detail, but the luster is note showing in the photos.

    If you see any luster around the coin I am thinking AU53 or AU55. This is another very nice looking coin Eduard.

    AU-50 on a good day but I can see this as a very strong XF-45 due to the wear on the shield. Anyone should be happy to add this to their collection.

    I'm thinking XF45. There are several bright areas on the reverse where I think someone did a little spot removal, although I doubt this would affect the grade.

    Very sharp. Looks AU to me all day long.

    Upper AU depending on luster... It's also a RPD, 1848/1848!
