A metal detectorist in southern Finland searching for treasure in the forest of his hometown this month uncovered what professional archaeologists say is the largest Viking-Age silver coin hoard ever found in the country. The Lahti Museums, which manages archaeological heritage in Sysma, where the hoard was found, credited the detectorist, Kalle Lappinen, with leading archaeologists to a collection of thousands of coins and other silver objects. They include a bracelet and a silver bead, the museum said in a statement on Wednesday. Full story at the link above.
Thanks for sharing @Dynoking Interesting! The NYT article was not accessible to me without signing-in via Google or joining. Here is another source link: https://www.medievalists.net/2026/09/huge-medieval-coin-hoard-discovered-in-finland/
Thanks for the links fellows. I'll never understand why these news platforms are so reluctant to share information and make you jump through hoops in order to obtain it. Thanks again for the links guys.....
It may have something to do with keeping AI robots from pilfering information that belongs to the NYT.

I was there in the 90’s. I dropped a bag of ancients and did not find it. I need these back, and glad they found them for me.
We need @paddyman98 to go over and find some treasure also. In a perfect world, I'd be there also. England sounds nice this time of the year also.
