for the last few years I've been throwing all my coins into a big bucket. I have probably cost to 50 pounds of coins I think. I'm sorting though them right now, is there anything I should be looking for? I found some dollars coins, wheat pennies, goat nickels and drummer boy quarters. Basically anything with a 'special' "tail" on the coin I keep. But beside that is there anything specific I should be looking for? Dates? Minting presses? (I'm new at this if you can't tell).
There are so many things to look for that they can't be listed in a single post. The best bet is to get the cheap folders for the coins and start collections of them. Try to save the nicest examples and keep your eyes peeled for things that are different. You can find a lot of varieties listed at the CONECA site. Search the archives here and at other sites to get many more listings. There are lots of people who will help if you have any questions.
I knew someone would say that. I just hope the thread poster was just joking when he said that!!!!!!!! :goofer:
http://www.coinrollhunting.com/ Look at the sections on the right side. One for each denomination. It may not be 100% complete, but I've found it to be the best all-in-one collection for those pesky US coins I keep pulling out of circulation up here.
