Guess the grade: 1927 Australia Florin

    Here's a coin I recently picked up. A 1927 Australian Florin, commemorating the opening of the new Parliament House in Canberra. It's an attractive and well-made design, and remains a popular type to collect.

    This one is in a PCGS holder. Guess the grade!

    Looks around an MS62, but that area behind the head is troubling. From the pic, it looks like a spot may have been removed. If so, UNC Details - Spot Removed.

    All the guesses were close, but only @Chris B got it right on. :) It's got good luster, and the reverse is pretty clean, but the obverse has quite a few marks.

    That's a beauty, and has eye appeal superior to its technical grade.

    PS- I daresay I like yours every bit as much as mine, despite the 3 grade point difference. That blazing cartwheel luster is killer.

    I just gotta upgrade my Parliament Florin. Paid under spot for a lot of .925 in 2009. Wasn’t unhappy until I see these beauties

    The obverses of both are pretty similar in my opinion. The busy reverse tends to make problems tougher to see, at least to my eyes. The reverse of both coins are stunning.

    Who knows, that 61 technical grade might’ve made @The Meat man’s example a good value for the money, since it packs maybe more “bang for the buck” than my 64 did. I dunno- we’d have to compare notes on costs to say for sure. Certainly, the eye appeal is there on both examples.

    I got mine in a European auction - so while the final hammer price was only €48/$56, total cost including fees and shipping amounted to ~ €76/$89. Not sure if that's a good deal or not, but I'm happy with it!
