Last week I went to the Pittsburgh ANA WFOM show as mentioned in another thread. My coin club, the Bust Half Nut Club, organized a club meeting for everyone attending the show. Actually it was the first time I attended, as I am a new associate member. The meeting was at a nearby hotel, which used to be a bank building. The meeting room was called « The Vault » and when you look at the picture you know why I met great people with collections that include coins far more desirable than mine. Everybody was really nice and some helped me looking for decent coins at the show. If anybody is interested in focussing more on Bust half dollars, the various varieties and die states, please PM me. -Mike

That 23 is sweet! I probably would have guessed AU on it, based on the amount of luster I see. I wasn't able to attend, but one of my favorite dealers (Eye Appealing Coins) released Part 2 of a huge collection of bust halves (The Odyssey Collection), and I was able to pick up my first 2 Draped Bust halves. I'll post them when I get them... they are rare varieties and they are beautiful.

I've bought from Phil for many years. He's always been good to me. They focus on beautiful coins, as their name implies. I've been very selective, but they always have something I want. I've probably spent more with them than any other dealer besides Heritage.
Indeed it was "MUCH bigger"! I have attended very large coin shows before in various parts of the US, but this was undoubtedly the largest I've ever attended. My primary purpose for going was to have @Denis Richard photograph some of my coins. However, I surely enjoyed many aspects of the show. Not the least of which was seeing the Tyrant Collection. While there I met @messydesk and caught-up with a few ancient coin dealers (my central collecting interest) whom I had not seen for quite a while. My only purchase was a coin type I've wanted since I was a boy (literally). I bought it on a whim in the last hour I was there, so unfortunately I didn't have time to have it professionally photographed there. :-/ Denom.: Silver 8 Reales Mint: Mexico City Ruler: Philip IV of Spain (1621-1665 AD) Assayer: Pedro de Regueiro Date: 1636-1665 AD Weight: 27.1 g. Diam.: 39x35 mm. These pieces-of-eight 'cobs' ("pirate money" - lol!) were so rapidly produced using such a crude method that no example is complete or even round. Yet they do hold a certain charm -- especially when knowing the history of that time.
