Low MS or High AU. I suspect it's been cleaned. There's a good amount of original luster, but I don't like the lines in the field in front of her face and the cheek & neck.

If I had to give a number I'd say AU-58 Details.

fair enough. I didn't think it looked cleaned but maybe.

so if the consensus is lightly cleaned what net grade should it command? Fair retail price?

Similar coins on eBay go for around $300. Of course the fees would be about $40 + shipping (at the very least $6). So personally if I was buying this to resell on eBay, I'd be at about $190-$220.

    -Edit-
Oh by the way, have you inspected the mintmark area to see if it might have been altered?

My wild guess would be $300 at auction.

AU. I do not find the cleaning to be terribly egregious.

I’m wondering if it’s been whizzed. The surfaces seem very pebbly.

With the reverse being dinged up I'd call it a XF45

I would think it would be shinier if it had been whizzed? Dunno.

Not every coin with details is shot and worthless, that IS a KEY date. I'll take it if you don't want it. :D We really should start a thread regarding our favorite details coin. ;) And I'm not saying that is cleaned or altered, just saying.

I'm just seeing lots of tiny marks all over the coin. I agree it's not a typical shiny whizzed look.

Yeah, I reckon it looks more like pocket wear to me.
