Received in change in SD yesterday. Someone with a lot of time on their hands.

There are newbies who actually think that it is a Mint Error.
On many coin related Facebook pages their first question is always..
"How much is this worth?" :bucktooth:

And when I explain to them that it's an altered coin they get mad and say stupid things such as..
    "You don't know anything!"
"You're just jealous that I have a rare error and you don't have it!" :punch:
"You're not a certified expert so don't comment on my coin!" :rage:
"I'm going to send it to get graded to prove you wrong!"
"The guy at the coin shop told me it's an error" :banghead:

    Ridiculous :hilarious:

Oh, and other newbies will say "That looks like a misprint. That's big money there"

Yes South Dakota. Nowhere near Sturgis though. Convenience store near the Rosebud reservation.

    Cents are STILL circulating?

Considering that billions probably trillions of them were minted, they will be in circulation until the end of time!

CPZ cents won’t. They are an endangered species that faces environmental oxidation and eventual dissolution if left in circulation. The end of time for them is upon us, circulation-wise.

Copper/bronze cents will last longer but consider: very few wheat ear cents are found in circulation these days, most found in rolls or the sporadic few dumped into CoinStars by ignorant inheritors (or by metal detection, wink, wink).

Treat them with TLC. If they are CPZ they are dissolving right before your eyes.

Since last Saturday I have spent 4 CPZ and received 8. In the past month I have found only 2 coins saved from circulation, neither were cents…one quarter and one dime. The dime was the new design: Emerging Liberty is the correct term, I think.
